Pacific HIV Symposium 2026

Including Sexual & Reproductive Health, Coinfections

and other Related Issues

Sheraton Fiji, Denarau Island (Nadi), Fiji

17 - 18 August 2026

The rapid increase of HIV epidemics across the Pacific is an international emergency.

Fiji is currently facing the fastest growing HIV epidemic in the world. One baby is diagnosed with HIV every week, while one child under the age of five is dying every month.

Papua New Guinea also recently declared a national HIV crisis, with an estimated 30 new infections every day.

New HIV infections have increased sharply in recent years, driven by injecting drug use, late diagnosis and ongoing barriers to testing and treatment.

The Pacific HIV Symposium 2026 has been established in direct response to this evolving situation.

The Symposium will convene regional health leaders, clinicians, nurses, policymakers and community organisations from across the Pacific, Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand to focus on practical, coordinated action across HIV testing, prevention, treatment and care.

The meeting will concentrate on translating evidence into practice, supporting Ministries of Health and frontline services to respond more effectively with approaches suited to Pacific health systems.

The Symposium will also provide a platform to address sexual and reproductive health, coinfections and other related conditions as part of an integrated regional response.

Bringing the Pacific together for change

The Pacific HIV Symposium 2026 will bring together leading figures and delegates from across the Pacific to engage in cross-country knowledge exchange and create actionable change. The Symposium aims to:

  • Update HIV knowledge, best practice and effective models of HIV services

  • Strengthen regional networks facilitating ongoing technical exchange, peer learning, and collaboration across countries

  • Promote greater adoption of evidence-based HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care approaches

  • Contribute to the reversing trajectory of HIV incidence across the Pacific through strengthened coordination, capacity and community-led responses.
